The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair That Changed America (Review)

The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair That Changed America (Review)

The Devil in the White City is a fantastic blend of history and fiction. The setting in Chicago's World Fair of 1893 was fascinating history on its own. But the way Erik Larson pulled everything together with the fictionalized account of H. H. Holmes and his infamous Murder Castle made for a gripping story. I tend to read more history than fiction, and this book satisfied my joy from both genres. Devil in the White City is top-notch storytelling, and I give it a full recommendation.
