About Nathan

Though a lawyer by training, I have long maintained that my profession is writing. It may be the argumentative child who hears the exasperated advice "you should be a lawyer when you grow up," yet the profession demands crafting those arguments into written form—ideally with clear language. Unfortunately, lawyers too often earn the reputation of long-winded pontificates instead of the more aspirational role of counselor.

When I write, the reason-based approach to the law shapes my perspective, as does the goal of writing efficiently. I may regularly falter on both fronts, but the goal remains. While I typically write about politics and religion, my subjects range broadly depending on the muse.

I have no illusion that my words are of great interest to others, but writing helps me organize my thoughts. Further, I welcome the exchange of ideas and the prospect of others sharing their ideas, too—ideally with brevity and reason.
